A cruel quirk of human nature dictates that we are unable to consciously appreciate one of our Top 5 Beers of all Time at the time of drinking. Like happiness and true contentment, it is usually only appreciated in retrospect. There are exceptions however.
Spitzkoppe is a group of granite peaks that were kindly spewed from the earth’s mantle around 700 million years ago and has served as a canvas for local bushmen and a source of tourists’ amusement in the 21st century. At dusk Lorna and I climbed one of the lower ridges to enjoy chilled Windhoek beer and watch the sunset. At the time I couldn’t recall a better beer.
